HireVue
You have to record answers to pre-set questions with a certain amount of time to prep and record the answer. The questions are generic "name a time you experienced a challenge and overcame it" and and provide an example of how you worked well in a team"

I did dress professionally and made myself look tidy even though it was online.

Technical Interview
This stage was a technical interview. You have a video call with technical people from bp, who ask questions based on example scenarios which vary from applicant to applicant, discipline to discipline. In my case they asked questions about weld fatigue failure and questions relevant to a production site with a loading dock.

How to respond for success
My advice to applicants is to research the company values and try to work those into your answers as well as doing a brief refresh on technical knowledge so you are well prepared and can show your best self. I believe knowing the values and awareness of what is important to the company is what set me apart.
Expect up to a 2 week wait before advancing to the next stage.
Assessment Centre
The final stage was a group assessment centre which consisted of two group activities and two individual activities. My advice would be to try include everyone in the group activities and show you can work well in a team, whether that’s leading or just checking everyone understands the task. For the individual tasks I would say make sure to have confidence in yourself and be assertive in your ideas in a professional and considered way.
